FAQs
Who's running this hunt?
The ECs of /r/PictureGame (/r/PG for short) are a group of general puzzle enthusiasts that play PictureGame on Reddit. This Reddit game is generally focused on image identification, but from time to time, people like to post various puzzles there too. The ECs of /r/PG have been hunting together in some form for about 5 years now, and some of us have had the privilege of writing for various other hunts, including the Galactic Puzzle Hunt and the MIT Mystery Hunt. After a few false starts, we’ve finally decided to try our hand at running a full-fledged hunt.
What's with the EC thing?
EC stands for Everything Conceivable! It's a tradition on our team to have EC names. You can often find our EC team names when scrolling through the list of registered teams on other online hunts.
How long/difficult is the hunt?
The hunt consists of somewhere between 20 and 30 puzzles. We believe the difficulty will be somewhat harder than Puzzle Potluck or Reddot, but easier than Huntinality 2.0. We expect an experienced team of six solvers to finish within a day.
When exactly happens when the hunt ends?
When the hunt ends on , the scoreboard will be frozen and solutions for all the puzzles will be released, and we will prepare a wrap-up to be available soon after. However, if you have not finished and still want to experience the whole hunt, you’ll still be able to register new teams, submit answers on the website, and progress through the hunt until . The only difference is that you won’t be able to use hints after the hunt ends.
After , you can still do the puzzles and check your answers spoiler-free, but you will not be able to track your progress on the website.
How do I solve these puzzles?
The puzzles in this hunt consist of a title, flavour text, and content. Generally, you won't find explicit instructions what to do with the puzzle content, but reading the title and flavour text may give you a hint for what to do. The ultimate goal is to extract an answer, which is generally a word or short phrase. A cursory understanding of common encodings (flag semaphore, braille, Morse code, A1Z26, and binary) is expected.

- Get fresh eyes on the puzzle, or conversely, take a break and look at something else.
- Consider what information you haven’t used yet.
- It can be useful to put everything you have into your favorite search engine.
- Have you tried…
